Apple has released the fix for the vulnerability that posed serious threats to the web and email security of Mac and Notebook users.
The threat was first found in the secure connections on mobile devices, however, it was then discovered to extend to all Apple products. The vulnerability was a hole in the code for Apple’s iOS and OS X operating systems that meant the security certificates were not being checked properly. Hackers could impersonate a website and record the data that was being sent over the connection before it continued to the real website. Apple has been criticized for the lack of publicity surrounding the threat, which had been a known issue for months without a fix before the public was informed.
Users of all Apple devices, including iPhones and iPods, should update if they have not already done so.
