Mac desktops and notebooks have been discovered to have a bug that compromises email security, allowing hackers to spy on emails or financial and personal data.

Sensitive information, such as bank card numbers and account passwords, sent over HTTPS, IMAPS and other SSL-protected channels from vulnerable computers could be easily accessed by cybercriminals as a result of this security flaw. Apple promised that it will be fixed “very soon”, with a fix expected in the next few days. The vulnerability was also present on mobile devices such as iPods and iPhones however the issues have been resolved, remaining only on the computers. The release of an update outside of the usual larger software updates implies that the issue is a serious one.

Users are advised to update their devices as soon as the fix becomes available.
