Microsoft has now confirmed that it will offer upgrades to its upcoming Windows 10 platform to all mobile devices that currently run its latest Windows 8.1 software.

Speaking at a press conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft’s mobile chief Steven Elop confirmed the upgrade plan, although he did explain that some features in the new OS would vary based on the specs of devices.

Elop also confirmed that the company plans to introduce dedicated Windows 10 devices, including some flagship models, “later this year.”

Microsoft used the event to announce its new Lumia 640, which comes with Windows 8.1 initially, while it also showed off Windows 10 features for mobile devices for the first time.
