Scientists are testing the speed for the 5G service for the first time, and it may be available sooner than you thought.

By 2020, it may just be possible to have recording-breaking speeds to mobiles, where you can download 100 movies in just 3 seconds at one terabit per second (Tbps).

The head of the 5GIC said he hoped to demonstrate the technology to the public in 2018.

It is also far in excess of the previous best achieved in tests: Samsung’s 7.5 gigabits per second (Gbps), which is less than 1% of the speed University of Surrey’s 5G Innovation Centre achieved.

It has been said that 5G would be able to use a very high-frequency spectrum – above 6 GHz – to run a range of services – from holographic projections to financial trading.

It remains to be seen whether it will be possible to replicate the speeds in real-world conditions. The regulator said it expected 5G mobile to be capable of delivering between 10 and 50Gbps, compared with the 4G average download speed of 15Megabits per second (Mbps).

With the size of content and data growing from UHD to 5K having internet speeds at this level is undoubtedly needed,we early anticipate the end product from the Researchers at the University of Surrey’s 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC).
