Users of the remote computer access software, LogMeIn, will be confronted with the news that the service will no longer be free after an announcement appeared overnight. Users will be prompted to choose an upgrade upon their next LogIn, or stop using the product after a seven day grace period.

In the statement released on their blog, LogMeIn explained that ‘We will be unifying our portfolio of free and premium remote access products into a single offering. This product will be a paid-only offering, and it will offer what we believe to be the best premium desktop, cloud and mobile access experience available on the market today.”

Users on LogMeIn ignition for iOS and Android are also affected by the change, although discounts have been offered to these customers.

It was explained that the choice was ‘in order to address the changing needs of our customers’.
