Google Wallet is a payment business that competes with the likes of PayPal and Apple Pay among the many others.
It launched in the UK yesterday after being available in the US since 2013. The Feature will be rolled out during the next week across the country with 10-20% of users initially having the feature.
Google confirmed that this is the only Google Wallet service to be rolled out in the UK. They also say that they don’t have any future plans to roll any point of sale payment system in the UK. We will see what the future holds for Google in terms of point of sale.
The Wallet system is very simple it works with your Gmail account means that you can pay and receive money by means of an attachment. Both parties need to have a Wallet account linked to a debit or bank account for the transaction to process. For U.K. Gmail users, a £ icon will soon appear in the attachment bar of a Gmail missive. You just click on that £ sign to either send money to or request money from the email’s recipient. Google created a video to show how it works:
