Cloud storage service Dropbox has restored sharing services after fixing a bug that allowed cybercriminals to access shared files.
The vulnerability meant that outsiders could find out the location of shared files when clicking on links to the websites contained inside. The flaw had the potential to open shared files to the public, however the issue was discovered and fixed before it could be exploited. Services were unavailable for all users except business users while the patch was developed.
The bug is one of several that have recently affected Dropbox, who were involved in the Heartbleed bug and also compromised user email addresses in a security breach in 2013. The file hosting service has now implemented greater security measures to retain their customers.
