AVG has shut down the remote access service, Crossloop, without notifying customers of the change.
All versions of the software, both paid and free, were removed on Friday with no prior warning and no contact to any of the thousands of users. The company offer no explanation for the choice, stating on the Crossloop website that the shutdown is a ‘business decision’ by AVG. The post directs users to the terms of service that allow discontinuation of the services at any time, for any reason. Paying subscribers should receive a full refund by February 28th.
This has happened less than a month after customers of the similar software LogMeIn were given a week to upgrade to a paid service.
