Cybersecurity: Awareness and Good Practice

Cybercrime is probably the biggest challenge that humanity will face in the next 20 years.

Cybersecurity Ventures, the world-leading researcher into cyber economy, has predicted that cybercrime will cost the world more than £4 trillion by 2021. This is a 50% increase compared to 2015.

The 2018 Accenture security report indicates that the largest year-on-year increase in cybercrime was experienced by the UK, coming in at 31%.

Cybersecurity is a hot topic for businesses at the moment. Zhero’s upcoming event is a training and educational seminar on cybersecurity awareness and good practice.

This seminar addresses some of the key issues related to cybersecurity for business. These are:

The challenge of Ransomware is a real and growing threat to your business.

Imagine nobody in your organisation being able to access any of their files because they’ve all been locked down and encrypted by an unknown person, and the only hope of recovering your business-critical information is to pay a ransom in bitcoins to an untraceable account. How can you trust you’ll even get back access to your data, or that it has not been left permanently corrupted, or infected with other viruses opening up backdoors for future attacks?

With around half of all UK organisations attacked by ransomware, and around one in five of those infected being forced to close, this is a threat that you need to understand and take action to prevent.

Experts John Douglas from First Response and Peter Melhuish from Zhero gave our audience the grounding needed to tackle this issue head-on covering:

  • What is Ransomware
  • How it works
  • What are the risks
  • How much are victims expected to pay
  • Why firewalls and anti-virus are insufficient
  • How to protect yourself and your business
