Google Cloud SQL provides customers with data encryption, up to 500GB databases and a 99.95% uptime guarantee, rivalling Amazon web services. This ensures that customers can access their data at all times, with rates starting at $0.36 per day for the most basic package although the most expensive rate is $46.94 per day. Google seems to be attempting to make using MySQL easier for customers. A spokesperson said, “The most common use cases are when developers are looking for standard MySQL databases but don’t want to do much of the leg work.”

High profile companies such as Costco, Ocado and LiveStream have already begun to make use of Cloud SQL.
